I first went to Mardi Gras in 2001. This was an experience that a freshman in highschool would never forget. I was 16 and I am a female and I was in my Highschool's NJROTC (Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps) basically a little highschool military program. Well n e ways we were the only high school (Ramona High School) from California I believe to be asked to the Mardi Gras Parades and the only highschool asked back as well. We took 40 ROTC kids and probably like 40 Band kids too and we were like a huge gang of southern cali brats running wild in mardi gras! No parents no teachers nothing except our principal (who we never saw the entire time) and a few chaperones that let us run wild
